10 More Halo 4 Tips

Top 10 Tips for Halo 4 Online Success
Are you tired of being called a N00B online by your friends? Well look no further than Calm Down Tom’s 10 ten tips and tricks for Halo 4 online. No longer will you have a negative K/D. From now on you will lord it over your friends as you cast off your training wheels and turn pro over night. It won’t take you long to convince your friends that the true Elites never left.
1. Know your terrain
Learning the layout of the maps is key. Knowing what to expect from the get-go is vital for your survival. Charge gung-ho up the middle and you’ll be the first to push daisies alongside the rest of your team that followed suit.
2. Patience is a virtue
Like every great predator you should learn to stalk your prey. The all-guns-blazing approach can work but it is a lot less risky to bide your time and strike when the iron is hot, from behind. The same can be said for sitting on a lead. Hunker down and hold your win. The enemy certainly aren’t going to win from hiding at the back of the level. If they want to win they need to come to you.
3. No weapon is overpowered
That’s right no weapon is overpowered. You might hear “Awwww god damn the AR is just too good” or “man that weapons cheap as” but it’s just player rage. Every weapon has it’s strengths and weaknesses. Once your learn that you know what distances weapons can be deadly in and learn how to work around certain opponents.
4. Position and map control is everything
Build upon knowing the ground in which you fight. It’s one thing knowing a map like the back of your hand, but it’s a completely different ballpark once you know how to control it and force the enemies towards ambushes or just keeping them in range of everyone. Developing quick vantage points and using the other half of your team to sweep a map will effectively eliminate the opposition like a well oiled machine.
5. Compliment your chosen weapon with a suitable loadout
I may have said that no weapon is overpowered but a loadout can be. So take your time. Look at your weapons weaknesses and strengths and tailor your custom classes to work with the weapon. Or maybe you have a particular play style that suits you. Look at what weapons help and then find the right perks to strengthen your play. If you are the hit and run kind of guy, maybe a jetpack or the boost perk would help you win.
6. Safety in numbers, but hold your friends at arms length
There is no such thing as “team lone wolves”, so don’t act like it. Your team are there to support you and aid you when you need to run away or just need that extra damage for a kill. You might sacrifice the a few points but you’ll rack up challenges, assist points and a lot more wins. So setting a good few meters between you and a friend could save your life and make a formidable foe of your team. Just watch out for grenades, get your spacing wrong and it could cost.
7. Crouch when you see enemies running carelessly
It’s easy to forget about the crouch in such a fast paced game, especially when you have adrenaline coursing through your veins. But if you can hide in a safe spot as an enemy tears up the map you can get a surprise assassination on your unsuspecting foe. You won’t show up on the radar either while crouching so if you are a stone throw away and nobody has noticed it could be your chance to strike.
8. Find the right time to phone a friend.
It might be tempting to spam your ordnance call whenever you get one but there’s nothing worse than waiting for a drop to be killed before you pick it up. Calling your drop at the right time could turn the tide of the battle. That crucial overshield drop might be what saves you from the 2 enemies running round the corner or could be the saving grace in an uphill battle when you can call in a sniper and sit on your perch picking your foes off one by one. Hell, you could call it for a friend in need if you think it will help. Just make sure it falls into the right hands.
9. These are my loadouts, there are many others like it.
Variety is the spice of life and the flavouring of future warfare. Don’t stick to one rigid gameplan. Evolve with the battle. The best way to do that is by having a diverse set of loadouts. It might be hard to at the start but as you rise through the ranks of the UNSC more weapons and perks become available. So…
10. Try everything.
You might have been the kind of the BR four shot in Halo 3 but this is a whole new monster. There is a whole new array of weapons at your disposal and you would be stupid not to try them. Even the old weapons have received tweaks and adjustments to better suit the new engine. So try them all and try them hard.
These are but a few tips to set you on the right path. A lot of work will need to be put in to perfect your game but with the right start you will find yourself shooting up the ranks and diversifying your playstyles to keep those pesky campers on their toes. So I hope you’ve enjoyed what little nuggets of gold I have been able to spare. Now it’s time to put it in to practice.
Forward ‘Unto Death.

10 Halo 4 Multiplayer tips

So after 5 years of anticipation, Halo 4 has finally arrived, and it’s awesome. But even though you’re used to “pwning n00bs” on a regular basis in Halo: Reach and Call of Duty, you just can’t seem to figure out why your Halo 4 win/loss ratio is still below 1. In order to correct this injustice, we’ve compiled the following list of guidelines to help improve your game. These ten basic tips will get you to the top of that post-carnage leaderboard in no time.
TeamworkIt may commonplace to say, but working together as a team drastically improves your chances of winning.  Even if you “almost went pro” in Halo 3, running off to do your own thing in Halo 4 without your team is a shortcut to defeat. Having the highest Kill/Death ratio at the end of the match does notensure victory, especially if your teammates are continually dying. If you find yourself having a hard time getting your teammates to work with you, take the initiative and begin following them around instead of trying to lead. After a couple of kills, usually even silent, anonymous Xbox Live strangers begin to get the idea. Two guns are always better than one, and in the end, assist and distraction medals are just as important as kills when it comes to victory.
Know the maps and loadoutsThe loadouts and multiplayer maps are new to everyone, even the most ardent Halo player, so the quicker you memorize them, the quicker your game will improve.  While unlike previous Halo titles, superweapon spawns appear on your HUD when they become available.  However, it’s still important to learn the rest of the each map in order to get around quicker than your opponent. Finding choke points and shortcuts can make all the difference, especially in CTF or Oddball matches. The best way to memorize the maps is to create your own custom games with a couple friends in order to walk around each map and learn their layouts without being shot at. Once you understand the maps, make sure to use loadouts that are conducive to each one.  Using an assault rifle and Promethean Vision is much more advantageous in a small, claustrophobic map, while a jetpack and DMR would be better in exterior maps with high vantage points. Furthermore, make sure not to call in ordinance drops mid-combat. Dying immediately after calling down an ordinance drop only helps out the enemy.
Know your enemyIf you find yourself up against opponents using ranged weapons in an open area, attacking them head on with an assault rifle or shotgun is a good way to get yourself killed. Experiment with new weapons and learn how to use each one effectively. This will allow you to identify what weapon your opponent is wielding and give you the edge. Luring long ranged weapon users into tight areas when you have an assault rifle, or vice versa, grants you an immediate advantage. The best Halo players are able to learn from their mistakes and adapt to what’s happening on the battlefield
Rounding cornersThis bit of advice can be applied not just to Halo 4, but to nearly any online shooter.  Never, ever, charge blindly around a corner. Always assume that your opponent has set their crosshairs on that corner and are just waiting to blow your head off the moment you step into their line of site. Instead, turn to preemptively face the new direction before you actually walk around the corner. This way you won’t waste valuable time turning when you could be under fire.  Also, jumping around corners drastically improves your odds of survival. When watching for enemies to round a corner, most players set their sites at head or chest level.  If you’re airborne and already facing your opponent when cornering, you may actually get the first shot off.  Lastly, the new Promethean Vision ability allows you to see through walls for a short time. A split second use of this handy device can let you know whether or not you should bounce a grenade around the corner to take out a lurking, sword wielding enemy.
Map controlLike the previous bit of advice, this too can apply to nearly any online shooter. In games of Slayer or Oddball, it’s best to gain control of one section of a map rather than run around blindly. Controlling the highest parts of any maps not only provide the best view of the battlefield, but are also far easier to defend than lower areas. Throwing grenades or shooting rockets at someone below you is always easier than at someone standing above you. Or, if you can’t reach the high ground, choose an area with a limited amount of entry points. In Halo 4, thanks to loadouts, less emphasis is placed controlling the spawn locations of superweapons. So feel free to hunker down with your team and let the enemy come to you, especially if you have the lead.
Control your accessibilityWhile this bit of advice is very similar in nature to the previous tip, it’s most important to remember in games of Flood.  Instead of running around, find a place to hunker down and wait for the zombies to approach you.  The fewer and more difficult the entry points are, the better. Standing on high ground and picking off zombies from a distance, or standing by a choke point with a shotgun is a great way to increase your body count.
Use the hordeIf you find yourself a member of the undead during a game of zombies, know your limitations and play accordingly. You may move quicker, but you only have a melee attack.  In most one on one situations, you are going to lose. Try to run with a couple of other zombies, but be careful not to lead; zombie pointmen always get killed first.  Let the zombies ahead of you soak up the first few rounds before you launch your own attack. The easiest way to successfully melee a shotgun wielding opponent is either while they’re distracted, or while they are cocking their shotgun in between rounds.
Know your ordinanceIf used properly, ordinance drops can turn the tide of battle, regardless of game type.  When presented with an ordinance drop, make sure to choose the option that is best suited for the situation, or for your play style.  If you are assaulting a location, choose grenades or a damage multiplier. If you are defending a position, choose an overshield. While a needler is effective in close areas or corridors, it can be useless in ranged, open areas. Finally, when all else fails, choosing the SAW is rarely a bad decision.
Avoid damaged vehicles.Being the operator of any vehicle has always been a coveted position in any Halo title. Hence the free-for-all rush and inevitably spiteful team killing that often occurs at the beginning of many matches.  However, getting in a vehicle is not always the best option. If you come across a used vehicle that appears to have already taken a considerable amount of damage, it’s probably best to avoid it altogether. Even at full health, jumping onto a banged up Ghost or Banshee could be a death sentence as it may one or two more shots may cause it to explode.
Zoom, Zoom, Zoom.In all previous Halo titles, taking damage has always removed players from weapon zoom. This mechanic has always made ranged combat, especially sniping, more difficult when under fire. In the past, players using battle rifles or DMRs often avoid zooming altogether, as constantly zooming in and out is more difficult than just using the regular target reticle. However in Halo 4, taking fire does not automatically remove players from zoom. Using the knowledge of this seemingly small change can make a world of difference. When at medium to long range, always make sure to use a weapon’s zoom in order to score headshots. Also, when under fire from a sniper, remember that returning fire with a weaker weapon probably just makes you easier to snipe. Hopefully, armed with the knowledge of these ten tips, you’ll be doing less respawning and more ordinance dropping.  So what are you waiting for? Knowing is only half the battle; you’ve got to do the rest yourself!  Get out there are show ‘em what you’re made of, Spartan.

Best Halo 4 Loadouts

Loadouts may be commonplace among online shooters today, but when it comes to the Halo franchise, the idea is relatively new. Preset loadouts, which received a lukewarm reception when first appearing in 2010’s Halo: Reach, have been dramatically improved upon for Halo 4. Now, rather than all players starting on an even keel, every Spartan is unique.
Unfamiliar with customization, many Halo players may feel overwhelmed. How should I set up my loadouts? Should I base them on map size, weaponry, Armor Abilities, or game type? The answer, of course, is all of the above. So, after extensive playtesting, we’ve created the following guide to sooth your jangled nerves and give you an edge online.
(The following guide does not include upgrades received after unlocking Specializations.)
Infantry
Primary Weapon – Its three-round burst and scope make the Battle Rifle one of the best weapons when it comes to long and medium range combat.  In terms of fire rate and damage however, it’s comparable to both the LightRifle and Covenant Carbine.  As this will be your “go-to” loadout, the choice between the three boils down to individual preference.
Secondary Weapon – In order to best prepare for both long and short range combat, the Assault Rifle or Suppressor are the best choices for Secondary Weapons. According to our tests, the Suppressor did take down opponents just bit quicker than the Assault Rifle, but its target reticle bloom makes it notably less accurate.
Grenade – Whether you prefer the blast radius of the Frag, the sticky ability of the Plasma, or the duration of the Pulse, your best choice here would be with whatever you are most comfortable.
Armor Ability – In this case, it’s best to use an Armor Ability useful in a variety of situations.  I would recommend Active Camouflage, or Promethean Vision.
Tactical Package – In order to use a second Primary Weapon in place of a standard Secondary Weapon, you must use Firepower.
Support Package – Using Sensor to improve both the range and sensitivity of your motion sensor gives you a noticeable advantage over your opponents in any situation.

CQC (Close Quarters Combat)
Primary Weapon – The Assault Rifle or Suppressor are best when it comes to close range combat.  However, keep in mind the previously mentioned differences between the two.
Secondary Weapon – In order to balance the out the close range of the Primary Weapon, choosing the Magnum as your Secondary Weapon will come in handy.
Grenade – Since sticking someone is a lot easier at close range, Plasma Grenades are best for this loadout.
Armor Ability – While Promethean Vision and Hologram are useful when it comes to locating and fooling your enemies, not much beats the usefulness of the Hardlight Shield in close combat situations.
Tactical Package – Having a fully charged shield is what separates the winners from the losers in close range battles, so Shielding is best suited for this loadout.
Support Package – When facing opponents at close range, getting off the first few shots is crucial, making Dexterity incredibly useful.

Ranged
Primary Weapon – After extensive comparison, the DMR proved to be the most effective starting weapon at long range.
Secondary Weapon – When shooting individual rounds, it takes an entire magazine from the Boltshot to bring down foes. However, the ability to kill enemies with a singular charged shot makes it very useful when enemies sneak up behind you.
Grenade – Because of its blast radius and ease of use, the Frag Grenade is best for this loadout.
Armor Ability – There are two schools of thought when it comes to the Armor Ability of this loadout. Using Active Camouflage allows players to walk out into the open to target their opponents without being seen. The Jetpack however allows players to quickly access higher places. Experiment with both in order to see what you prefer.
Tactical Package – AA Efficiency is the most beneficial for this loadout, especially if using Active Camouflage as an Armor Ability.
Support Package – While many may prefer using Awareness in order to see their motion sensor while scoped, Sensor proved to be more helpful when locating targets at a distance.

Vehicular
Primary Weapon – After extensive testing, the DMR was found to be most effective against vehicles. Also, maps that contain vehicles are generally large, so it’s best to carry a ranged weapon.
Secondary Weapon – The Plasma Pistol, with its ability to stall all vehicles with an overcharged shot, is a necessity for this loadout.
Grenade – Plasma Grenades are best when it comes to taking out vehicles as they can be stuck to anything that moves.
Armor Ability – The Hardlight Shield was found to be the most useful Armor Ability for this loadout as it can deflect direct shots from the Gauss Hog and Tank.
Tactical Package – Vehicles are pretty much large, moving targets.  So, in order to avoid being regularly picked off of a Warthog turret or a Ghost, use Shielding to get you shields back up as quickly as possible.
Support Package – The extra grenade damage radius granted by the Explosives package is helpful when bringing down vehicular enemies. However, Sensor is incredibly helpful when locating enemies while operating vehicles.  Again, the determining factor here is personal preference.

Offensive
Primary Weapon – Depending on the range at which you prefer to engage opponents in Team based objective game types, the Battle Rifle or Assault Rifle are your best options.
Secondary Weapon – Its range and ability to take out unshielded enemies with a single headshot makes the Magnum the best choice in offensive situations.
Grenade – Because opponents often gather in specific areas during objective game types, the Pulse Grenade is incredibly useful.  Also, their duration makes them handy when ones needs to temporarily close off an area to avoid enemy pursuit.
Armor Ability – Active Camouflage proved to be most useful when it comes to infiltrating an enemy base. But on the other hand, Hologram is perfect for drawing fire from jumpy defenders.
Tactical Package – The infinite sprint granted by Mobility is invaluable when it comes to reaching map objectives quickly.
Support Package – The increased motion sensor range from the Sensor package is perfect for spotting would-be defenders before they see you.

Defensive
Primary Weapon – When guarding an objective, enemies must come to you. Therefore, using closer ranged weapons such as the Assault Rifle or Suppressor are best for defense.
Secondary Weapon – The Magnum’s zoom makes it the best Secondary Weapon for taking down fleeing flag-grabbers.
Grenade – As in offense, the Pulse Grenades are best for turning flag locations and choke points into temporary death traps.
Armor Ability – Promethean Vision and the Autosentry are both useful when it comes to defense.  Also, if you prefer it, you can never go wrong with Active Camouflage.
Tactical Package – If you plan to stand right on specific points that will potentially draw attention from the other team, Shielding is a good choice.  But, if you prefer to stand off to the side and hide, Resupply will keep you fully stocked with grenades as the bodies of attacking enemies begin to stack up around you.
Support Package – Using Sensor to see opponents at a distance gives you more time to prepare for potential attacks on your position.

Support
Primary Weapon – You may not rack up a lot of kills with it, but when it comes to taking down shields and getting assists, the Storm Rifle is unmatched.
Secondary Weapon – The Magnum is the best option here in order to make up for the Storm Rifle’s limited range.
Grenade – The range and blast radius of the Frag Grenades make them the best choice when it comes to softening up enemies from a distance.
Armor Ability – In theory, the Regeneration Field should be the most useful for recharging the shields of both you and your teammates. However, after extensive testing, it was found to be more of an annoyance, blurring the vision of anyone inside.  Plus, a well-placed grenade is often enough to kill someone inside the field anyway. The Autosentry was found to be quite useful as both a means to take down enemy shields, and as an alarm when enemies are flanking. Personally however, I found acting as a bullet sponge with the Hardlight Shield to be most helpful to teammates.
Tactical Package – In order to draw enemy fire away from teammates without continually dying, Shielding or AA Efficiency work well.
Support Package – The damage resistance offered by Explosives will keep you alive longer when distracting enemies.

Loner
Primary Weapon – This loadout focuses on individual objective games like Oddball or King of the Hill. Therefore, a close range weapon such as the Assault Rifle or Suppressor is recommended.
Secondary Weapon – If you’d prefer to pick off King of the Hill contesters, or drop an Oddball carrier from a distance, the Magnum is a good choice.  However, if you’ve got the timing, the Boltshot’s charged round can often come in handy.
Grenade – Because of its blast radius, Frag Grenades are perfect for clearing a hill or blasting a fleeing oddball carrier.
Armor Ability – In order to spring a trap on an oddball carrier, or go unnoticed just outside of the hill, Active Camouflage is the best choice.
Tactical Package – To get around the map as quickly as possible, Mobility is an absolute must.
Support Package – As objectives are always displayed on everyone’s HUD, people tend to lob grenades, Hail Mary style, in their direction.  To keep yourself alive a bit longer when you’re near these waypoints, make sure to use Explosives.  Also, as some players tend to rack up kills in game such as King of the Hill, Ordinance Priority can be quite beneficial.  Just remember not to call them down while in the hill!
The maximum amount of customizable loadouts available at one time is five. So, after consulting the above guide, make sure to choose the loadouts that are best suited to your play style. Remember, this guide should only serve as a jumping off point, so feel free to tweak, or even combine any of these loadouts. If you find a way to improve any of them, let us know in the comments!
